As we progress in our series of art, we boldly ventured on the 17th century Baroque style. This artwork was inspired by the mandate given by the Roman Catholic Church that they are special rules that apply to works of art. Their demands on the artist that all work product should be understandable, not only informed the members of the community but for the illiterate as well. This led to the art of a purely philosophical action.
Section of this post, I decided to explore a work of art created by artist first woman to be accepted as a distinguished artist. Artemisia Gentileschi in history as the first painter to know that women both historical and religious paintings. This is a significant achievement, since during this period, the type of heroic themes were considered beyond the scope of understanding of a woman. As with many artists of value once again we see a person of talent and ability, who had a father who was also a trade expert.
Painting in particular, I want to address is Judith killing Holofernes. As was the custom in the early Baroque paintings, the movement was created with features much larger than we would see style as previously unbeatable. They are less confusing, less esoteric, and removed the veil on mysterious earlier in styles that are presented.
